Michelle started bellydancing under the instruction of Sema Yildiz while living in Turkey. Now based in San Francisco, Michelle has been a regular visitor to Queensland since 1999. She has taught and performed worldwide and heads up Cheeky Girl Productions, creating and producing many instructional and performance based dvd's.

We welcome her first Perth visit where she will combine her experience as a dance teacher, personal trainer and a masters in counselling to present a series of exciting workshps for all dancers to enjoy.

Workshops - Saturday, July 25
Studio 44, U2, 44 Rigali Way, Wangara

WS1 - Shimmies, Isolations & Drum Solo    (int-adv) 10.00am-12.30pm
Shimmies, belly rolls, hip locks, chest isolations - drill the moves, then layer them into a drum choreography
$50 - 2.5 hrs

WS2 - Finger Cymbals    (beyond beginners) 1.30-3.30pm
Technique to get you comfortable dancing with finger cymbals. Learn dozens of patterns, put them together with dance combinations with an emphasis on smooth transitions.
$40 - 2 hrs *BYO finger cymbals

WS3 - Stage Presence    (beyond beginners) 4.00pm-6.30pm
Revamp your performance skills! Good technique is vital but is only half the story. Connect with your audience with tricks to set you and/or your troupe apart. Explore methods of adding polish and professionalism to your dance and the dynamics of a stage show. Includes covering issues of nervousness, stage fright, improvisation and accident recovery.
$50 - 2.5 hrs


Workshops - Sunday, July 26
King Street Arts Centre, King Street, Perth

WS4 - American Pop Cabaret Choreography   (int) 10.00am-1.00pm
American style, pop cabaret, emphasising unexpected directional changes, travelling and sharp isolations. Explore the dynamics of a successful carbaret routine with this fast and sassy choreography
$60 - 3 hrs

WS5 - Master Class for Instructors    (teachers, aspiring teachers and troupe leaders) 2.00pm-4.00pm
Suitable for those already teaching, aspiring teachers and troupe leaders. Utilising her Masters Degree in Counselling, Michelle will cover different learning methods and psychology behind class dynamics. Methods for breaking down and drilling movements, muscle memory and breaking bad habits, as well as motivating and inspiring students, movement safety and how to prepare students for performing.
$50 - 2 hrs

Michelle will have a selection of DVD's available for purchase at the workshops.
Cost is $25 and a cash payment is required.
