I originally began bellydance in 2005 as a way to improve my health and fitness and while it has definitely done that, I learned that there is so much more to it and I discovered a true passion for this gracious art form.
My first stage performance in early 2006 was an incredible experience and served to fuel my desire to continue to learn and perform. I particularly enjoy the community performances, and currently dance with Hip To Hip from Bellydance WA. I also continue to increase my knowledge base by taking regular classes, as well as workshops with other experienced instructors at the annual WAMED festivals and when international guests grace our shores.
Further studies include
* completion of the A-Z Original Personal Techniques training course as created by Keti Sharif.
* Zumba and Zumba Gold accreditation
* Certificate III and IV in Fitness
Over the years I have taught classes for all ages from the very young to the very young at heart and for those who have encompassed all ranges of movement and ability, and every student has their own story. You might start attending classes for the exercise, it might be you have a love of dance and movement, it might be you are investing in a little personal time to rediscover yourself and recharge your batteries, it might be to increase your fitness, flexibility and balance, or it could be for all or none of those reasons. Bellydance is one of those amazing personal journeys that is not only different for everyone, but is also available for everyone no matter what your age or fitness level.
My own journey has been truely incredible and one that continues to enrich my life in so many ways. As well as the expected health benefits of regular exercise I sought when I first started out, I have also discovered increased confidence and have learnt to feel comfortable within my own skin. Something the painfully shy younger me never expected to happen and something I have seen echoed in so many others I have had the privelege to dance with and meet along the way.
I look forward to sharing this wonderful dance with you and helping you start your own dance journey.
