About Lisa

and her dance journey...

From Renate: Every now and a student comes along who not only enjoys the classes, but starts to live and breathe bellydance. Lisa began classes with Bellydance WA in 2005 and quickly developed a passion for this dance style. She not only committed to more than just a couple of classes per week, she subsequently spent many hours researching the varying styles of dance, the costumes and music. On top of this Lisa dedicates a great deal of what little personal time she has to practise her dance(she is also a mum and has two of her children attending our junior classes). Lisa expressed an interest to take her dancing further, not only in performing, but in sharing the dance with others and began training with me earlier this year. Lisa has proved herself to be a confident and passionate instructor, her style is relaxed, full of good humour and Lisa takes a keen interest in her students. Please read on and find out what Lisa has to say about herself.

I originally began bellydance as a way to improve my health and fitness and while it has definitely done that, I learned that there is so much more to it and I discovered a true passion for this gracious art form.

My first stage performance in early 2006 was an incredible experience and served to fuel my desire to continue to learn and perform. I particularly enjoy the community performances, and currently dance with the Sisters Of Isis from Bellydance WA. I also continue to increase my knowledge base by taking regular classes, as well as workshops with other experienced instructors at the annual WAMED festival and have completed the A-Z Original Personal Techniques training course as created by Keti Sharif.

Bellydance for me has been an amazing personal journey that continues to enrich my life in so many ways. Increased confidence and learning to feel comfortable within my own skin are just some of the benefits I have discovered and I look forward to sharing this wonderful dance with you.
